I learned soon after subscribing to Netflix that it was designed from the ground up with the customer in mind. It was created for my convenience as a movie lover and a consumer, not for Netflix’s convenience as a company.

• No Long Term Contracts. You can cancel or temporarily suspend your account instantly. Just login to your account and with a few clicks you’re done.
• Watch Unlimited Movies. You get to watch as many movies as you want every month for one flat fee.
• Watch Recent Hits & Classics. You can watch recent blockbusters, and those timeless classics that you won’t find on cable.
• Movie Ratings. The movies are rated by people like you and me who’ve watched the movies. These ratings have helped me discover some fine movies I would not have otherwise watched. They have also helped me avoid wasting my time watching a full movie online that turns out to be a total dog.

Another very nice feature of Netflix is that you can watch a full movie online using a number of devices including:

Sometimes, on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, I’ll take a break from writing and will watch a full movie online on my PC. If it’s a movie my son and/or my wife also would like to see, we use our Wii to watch the movie on our Samsung flat screen HD TV.

Pricing Flap

Netflix did have a major public relations flap in the fall of 2011 when they decided to raise their prices for customers who receive both streaming movies and DVDs. According to news reports, they made the move to prepare the company for the day when getting DVDs through the mail will have gone the way of the dodo bird.  Right now you can get an unlimited streaming subscription with Netflix for $7.99 or an unlimited DVD subscription (1 DVD at a time) for $7.99. The combined subscription for both streaming and DVD costs $15.98.

Now this obviously is not as good as its old plan, but because of the size of its movie library, Netflix is still my go-to place for a full movie online.

Now, here’s a really cool part. As of this writing, you can try out Netflix for free. I’ve just checked their site and they are currently offering a free one-month trial. That’s a pretty good deal!
